Curriculum Intent

KS3

In Year 7 and 8, Maths is taught following a concentric model. This allows topics to be revisited several times to help all pupils to develop their mathematical skills.

GCSE

GCSE Maths is taught in Year 9,10 and 11. Topics are taught in an order that builds pupils’ understanding of the content and improves their confidence in problem solving.  The syllabus is differentiated to enable candidates to show their ability in the subject. There are two overlapping tiers of entry for the GCSE:

  • Foundation tier - grades 1 to 5 available
  • Higher tier - grades 4 to 9 available

Career Opportunities

People with a Mathematics degree and other qualifications can go into: accounting, medicine, engineering, forensic pathology, finance, business consultancy, teaching, IT games development, scientific research, programming, the Civil Service, design, construction and astrophysics, to name but a few opportunities.
