CONSULTATION ON PROPOSAL TO CHANGE ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026

We are consulting on our arrangements for admission in the 2025/26 academic year and would welcome your feedback.

In accordance with the Archdiocese of Southwark Education Commission updated Guidance on School Admissions, August 2023, to support how applications are prioritised, the proposed St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive Admissions Policy will rank applications using Criterion 1-8.

Parents/carers should complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) which should be returned to the school by the national closing date. Whilst completion of this form is not mandatory, if one is not received Governors will prioritise the application as “Criterion 4 or 8” (see policy for Criterion definitions.)

In order to rank applications wishing to be considered under the school’s faith criterion, the option to submit a Certificate of Catholic Practice is available to support how applications are prioritised. The Certificate of Catholic Practice must be signed by the parish priest of the church where the applicant worships; the certificate must also be endorsed with the official parish stamp.

A Certificate of Catholic Practice template will be available to download from the school website Admissions section, will be provided in the admission pack during the secondary transfer process and/or will be available from the school office.

The consultation period is from Thursday 23 November 2023 to 12noon on Thursday 4 January 2024. Please address any comments to Gerry Stockman, PA to the Headteacher and Admissions Officer by email to gstockman@stmcomprehensive.org (please include Consultation in the subject heading of the email.)

Following the consultation period all submitted comments will be considered at a Governors Meeting and the final arrangement will be published on the school website no later than 15 March 2024.
